Qualitative Teaching Perspectives Project:
Link to Understanding Resident Teaching Perspectives Study Report : This IRB exempt qualitative project sought to better understand residents’ perspectives on what it means to be an effective teacher and learner. Small focus groups met and discussed open ended, exploratory questions about teaching. An online component was also attempted to provide a more anonymous outlet for answering some of the open ended questions that may not be as comfortable to discuss in small groups. Challenges included recruiting residents for both components and being the primary investigator when I also wear the hats of the Associate Program Director and of the rotation co-director for the senior resident teaching rotation.
