I have always wanted to be an educator, in the end. I am the product of two very dedicated secondary school teachers who instilled in me the importance of lifelong teaching and learning. I feel very satisfied in my career as a pediatrician who cares for hospitalized children, and even more satisfied when I am able to teach students and residents while in that role. I learn something new every day from patients and families, and hope that the members of my team continue to feel they are in a collegial, safe learning environment where we can all continue to learn together. Having created this portfolio has helped solidify my global view of my trajectory as an educator: noting the important places that I’ve been, where I currently am, and where I hope to go in the future. As my focus and purpose as a medical educator have become more clearly defined in the past few years, I have been able to find the pavestones I seek along the path a little easier, and am able to participate in projects that are better aligned with my interests.
I am very grateful for the many meaningful teachers and mentors who have inspired, influenced and supported me in my medical education career along the way, and would like to acknowledge and thank them here:
